TransUSA Express is a family owned and operated company located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was started in 1975 in Bloomington, Indiana by the patriarch,
Eddie Vanderman. Eddie had been driving trucks throughout the Midwest ever since he was old enough to reach the pedals.
One day he bought a truck and took it along with his wife, daughter, and two sons to Indianapolis to start a business there. In the beginning, it was a tough haul, but with perseverance and constant support from his wife Judy, he was able to keep moving forward. Then gradually business started to increase and TransUSA Express began buying more trucks.
Growth and Expansion
In 1999, Vanderman brought in his two sons to help him manage the ever increasing amount of freight. Within a couple of years they had outgrown their yard in Bllomington and moved out to a 25 acre lot in Indy. With the new property, Vanderman was able to switch gears and go into the LTL freight service, because of the large warehouse and docking facility that it had. This turned out to be a great move for the company as this created a service line all along the east coast of the United States.
